Privacy

weeshelf is a place to save product links and decide on them with other people. This page says exactly what we collect and what we do with it. It is written from the code rather than from a template, so it is specific and occasionally more blunt than these pages usually are.

What we collect

Your account. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture URL. We store them so your shelves are yours and so collaborators can see who said what.

What you put on a shelf. Product links you paste, the titles, prices, descriptions and images fetched from those pages, your own notes and tags, and the shelves you organise them into.

What you say. Messages and reactions you leave on a product, and the nicknames you give other people.

How a shelf is read. For each shelf we record how many times it was opened, which city it was opened from, which site linked to it, which products were opened, and how long a page was visible. This is shown to the person who owns that shelf.

A visitor cookie. If you open a shelf without signing in, we set a cookie called wsv containing a random identifier. It lets the shelf owner see that one browser read their shelf twice rather than two browsers reading it once. It is generated by us, means nothing outside weeshelf, and is never connected to a name.

What we do not collect

• We do not store your IP address. Anywhere. It is used in memory to work out a city and to count a visit once, and is discarded in the same request.
• We do not use third-party analytics or advertising. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recording, no ad network. Nothing about your reading leaves our own systems.
• We never sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
• Location is a city, aggregated by day, never a per-person trail. A shelf owner can see that their shelf was read four times from Pune. They cannot see where any one person was.

Cookies

Sign-in cookie — set when you sign in, so you stay signed in. The site cannot work without it.

Visitor cookie (wsv) — described above. It is used for audience counts, so it is not strictly necessary. If you would rather not have it, blocking cookies for this site prevents it; shelves still work.

Who else processes it

We keep the list short on purpose, and these are all of them:

• Vercel — hosting. Requests enter through Mumbai; the application runs in Singapore.
• Neon — the database, in Singapore.
• Cloudflare R2 — storage for product images.
• Google — sign-in only. Google tells us who you are; we do not read anything else from your Google account.

Because our infrastructure is in Singapore, your data is processed outside India and outside the EEA.

How long we keep it

Your account, shelves and messages are kept until you delete your account. Audience figures for a shelf are kept for as long as the shelf exists. Records of what happened to a product — added, moved, deleted — are kept even after the product is gone, because they are the shelf owner's history of their own shelf; your name is removed from them when you delete your account.

What you can ask for

Deletion. Settings → Delete account removes your account, the shelves you own, everything on them, your messages and reactions, and your name from every record that outlives them. It happens immediately and cannot be undone.

You can also ask us to correct something, to tell you what we hold, or to object to how we use it. Write to privacy@weeshelf.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK you may also complain to your data protection authority; in India, to the Data Protection Board.

Support access

A weeshelf administrator can open a support view of your account to help with a problem. It is recorded every time it happens, and time spent by an administrator is never counted in your figures or a shelf owner's.

Children

weeshelf is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this page changes materially we will say so on the site rather than only changing the date at the top.
